Saint Simons Island – A Getaway Awaits

South of the Altamaha River and north of Jekyll Island lies Saint Simons, an island with laid back, everybody's welcome feel that attracts tourists from both near and far.

We of late took a trip to the island, and we had a great time. This is truly one a beautiful area in the Confederate region of Georgia.

Beautiful St Simons Island

With ocean swells, salty sea air, crisp breezes, and an island feel not normally found in the southeastward, it felt more like a lam that was a human race absent instead of in our own backyard – relatively speaking.

St Simons Island Beacon Museum

I love lighthouses, so naturally, we had to see the historicalSaint Simons Island Lighthouse. Completed in 1872 past the U.S. government to replace the primary which was obliterated int eh Civil War, the lighthouse guides ships into Canonise Simons Sound and makes boaters aware of the many sandbars in the expanse.

Did you know Now is #NationalLighthouseDay? Lighthouses have been more or less for hundreds of years and feature been a right smart for ships and boats to sail safely at oceangoing. One of my favorite things to do is to visit historic lighthouses, across the U.S.A. Course, I have favorites and my latest popular is the @stsimonslighthouse. The lighthouse stands as a 104-foot column and doesn't disappoint in beauty or account. If you were to front at the St. Simons Island Lighthouse a 150+ years ago, information technology would have looked very different. Back and so, they used whatever materials they could get hold to ramp up. Just hatch items that you'd find on a beach and those were probably used to build the lighthouse. James Gould, was the first base keeper of this incredible lighthouse, He was also the original architect. During the Civil War, the beacon light was burned to the ground away the Confederates. This Beacon light you see today was rebuilt over a hundred eld ago. If you get a chance, go jaw the St. Simons Beacon and Museum. Visiting the lighthouse and museum is a must, whenever in this part of Empire State of the South. Take in the natural and manmade beauty that can only be seen as you climb the stairs and breathing tim in the delicious scent that only the sea can provide.
